Med Spa Treatments For Large Pores

When you look in the mirror, do you have a hard time getting past your large pores? Not only can large pores make your skin appear less smooth and attractive, but they can also easily become filled with gunk and sebum, leading to blemishes. Luckily, shrinking your pores is an option. There are a few med spa treatments that can have this effect.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are one of the most common, effective med spa treatments. Basically, a chemical peel involves a practitioner applying an acidic solution to your skin. The solution may contain glycolic acid or salicylic acid, depending on how strong the peel is intended to be.

The chemicals will be left in place for a few minutes, much like a mask. The result is that the outer surface of your skin will be sloughed off. This can have a number of positive effects. One of them is smaller pores. This occurs because the dead skin cells that often widen your pores and keep them open are removed.

A chemical peel can also prevent future blemishes, fade scars, and ease the appearance of wrinkles.

Microneedling

If your large pores arose due to aging, the practitioner at the med spa may recommend a procedure called microneedling. With microneedling, your practitioner will use a special tool to make numerous tiny piercings in the skin. These piercings will stimulate the skin's healing process. As a part of that process, your skin will produce more collagen. That collagen will make your pores look smaller.

Collagen naturally depletes with age, which is why microneedling works well for older patients with large pores. Microneedling can also fade fine lines and scarring.

Laser Treatment

For the largest pores, your practitioner may recommend a laser treatment. This is also a good option when you only have large pores over a part of your face. Much like microneedling, the laser will cause some minor damage to the skin, stimulating the healing process. The laser, however, tends to work deeper than microneedling, which can make it more effective for larger and deeper pores. A laser treatment will only take a few minutes. Your skin will be red and sore for a little while afterward, but this should clear within a few days.

If your pores are larger than you'd like, head to a local medical spa. They can take a look at your skin and recommend one of the treatments above. The best one will depend on the overall condition of your skin and the size of your pores.
