How to Effectively Apply Facial Moisturizer

As a young lady, you know young, vibrant skin is always in and it's something you probably wish to retain throughout your lifetime. Consistently putting on moisturizer the right way before applying makeup can help you achieve beautiful skin. Just follow these tips to attain this effect.

Choosing a Moisturizer

First off, you need the right facial moisturizer for your skin. Go with oil-free moisturizers if your skin tends to be oily. If that's not the case with you, you're okay with regular moisturizer. As long as the product goes on smoothly and is not greasy, you have the appropriate moisturizer. It's also in your best interest to find a moisturizer with SPF protection. Fifteen or higher is recommended. This will prevent sun damage, which can be detrimental to your skin.

Prep the Skin

It's critical that you go through these steps before putting on the moisturizer. Moisturizer applied the right way will hydrate your skin and allow your makeup job to last longer.

  1. Wash your hands. You'll use them to put on the moisturizer, and excess oils and dirt on them or under your nails will make your skin oily and dirty.
  2. Wash your face. Warm water and a mild cleanser ought to do the trick. Apply the soap in circular strokes and be sure to target the eyebrows and the T-zone especially.
  3. Rinse your face. Use warm water to open up those pores. Pat your skin dry with a towel.

How to Apply Moisturizer

After your skin is prepared, you can put on some moisturizer. Start out with small dollops since you can always add more if it's too little; it's difficult to remove when you put on too much. Apply moisturizer in small dots throughout your face, including the forehead, nose, cheeks, chin, and neck. Rub the moisturizer in circular motions, starting from the center and then going outwards. As for the neck, you should do upward motions to prevent stretching out your skin. Then focus on the eye area. Note that this portion of your face is delicate and requires gentle care. So use your ring finger to gently rub in the moisturizer; don't rub too hard or you may end up with dark circles. You may consider using eye gel or cream instead since this product would be gentler. Give your skin time to absorb the moisturizing product. You should wait 10 minutes for the moisturizer to fully work its magic.
